The letter to editor titled “Extrusion of the Distal End of Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt through the Urethral Orifice in an Adult Male” published in Neurology India on pages 230-231, Issue 1, Volume 69, 2021,[1] is being retracted because it is a duplicate publication of an article titled “An unusual complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunt with bladder perforation and extrusion through the urethra orifice in an adult male patient” published in International Journal of Neuroscience on pages 101-102, Volume 129, Issue 1, 2019.[2] It was brought to the attention of the journal's Editor-in-Chief by one of the authors. Thus, the author as well as the journal's editorial office decided to retract the article.

Plagiarism, fabrication, unethical or redundant publication violates the editorial policy of Neurology India, which follows best practice guidelines given by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) mentioned on the Information for Authors and as codified in the signed statements made by the authors regarding the copyright of their work.

This article has been retracted on request of the Author and Editor-in-Chief of the journal.
