The Victoria Memorial at Kolkata, in the state of West Bengal, India, is a magnificent structure constructed during the British rule. This marble structure still looks as if it was constructed yesterday. There is a fascinating blend of British and Indian design and its geometrical symmetry is outstanding. This is another mega marble structure after the Taj Mahal in Agra that is wonderful to photograph -- beautiful and clean. This shot was taken at different timings during the day, and the morning and late afternoon photographs were marvelous in natural light. The marble structure changes colors as the day passes.
Taking this picture was an attempt to get the whole structure including its reflection in one frame, while maintaining the symmetry. This picture was taken on the morning of 23rd January 2009 using a Canon EOS 350D digital camera with a 18.0-55.0 mm lens (3456 X 2304, 3.0 MB. JPEG. ISO 400, 25 mm, 0EV, f/14, 1/400).
